One Chair Not To Fit Two Ivanovs
After government and President’s Administration it’s turn now of the Security Council to become subject to reshuffling. However, the number of appointments is even less there compared to the Kremlin or White House. As it was expected, a decision was taken at the first meeting of the government chaired by Putin about tax benefits for the oil sector. In particular, non-taxable cost of the barrel of oil during calculation of the tax for extracting the minerals will be increased from $9 to $15 in 2009. Besides, exemption from tax will be applied with the field development: 10-15 years for those working on the shelf, and 7 years for those developing the oilfields in Yamal and Timano-Pechorskaya province.

Gazprom-Media To Get Rid Of “Izvestia”
The newspaper “Izvestia” has changed owner again but that is unlikely to cause any change of editorial policy. The interrogated by Novaya Gazeta players of the media market call attention to the fact that the newspaper, that was controlled by Gazprom-Media through Gazprombank, has not come actually to another owner. The new buyer, insurance Company SOGAZ belongs to structures of Yuri Kovalchuk again, who is an old ally of Vladimir Putin’s. That means, with all the apparent change of situation the newspaper is formally re-located from one pocket to the other.
