Wishing to cover up a scandal about eviction violations in Nizhneimeretinskaya Bay, the Vice-governor of Krasnodarsky krai Vasily Nadiradze reported to the journalists that the authorities are going to build a historical village at the site. Allegedly, it is planned to build a church, a museum of orthodoxy and the housing for migrants that will be probably made from ancient frameworks.   

Reminding, last week was featured with disturbances and encounters between the police and local dwellers who are the members of Old Believers community moved to those lands from Turkey by Nicolas the Second, the Russian Tsar, one hundred years ago. Those people refuse to leave their parts and they do not believe the assurance made by the local officials. They have even tried to get to the inspecting the place members of the IOC, which resulted in severe fighting. The head of the old believers’ community of the village Dmitry Drofichev was detained by the police and fined by the court of justice for his refusal to let the bailiffs into his plot.    

In the meantime the vice-governor Vasily Nadiradze continues to assure the public that “no one will be left without solving one’s social problems. The inhabitants of Nizhneimeretinskaya Bay will be given housing or other options of compensation that they would agree to, in exchange”. 

However, still the old believers have no grounds to believe promises by the vice-governor. “Making this historical village is another attempt of throwing dust in the public’s eyes” said to a Novaya Gazeta correspondent Vladislav Boldeskul, the member of the community. “What village are they talking about? They are planning to construct a hotel there! And we are being driven into a reservation”.
