On the Russia’s Day and related to it days off a series of terrorist acts occurred in the republics of the North Caucasus.

13 June at about 6:40 a.m. an explosion came in the center of Dagestan capital, the city of Makhachkala. A few people got wounded and one was killed. Injured were mostly people who had been jogging as a morning exercise. 

Several hours after, another incident happened in a Dagestani village of Bairamaul in Khasavyurt district. There a special operation, carried out with the use of armored vehicles and weapons, resulted in killing Saipudin Ibragimov, the main assistant of Askhab Bidaev, the leader of a well known gang. Also died Bidaev’s wife, 18, and Ibragimov’s sister Jamilya. Askhab Bidaev himself, who has been put on the wanting list three years ago, was not found in the ruined private house.       

On same morning another explosion happened in the city of Nazran in Ingushetia. Four people were killed, six wounded. The explosion destroyed two shops under same roof. Initially, the law enforcers reported to their superiors it had been about the tanks of domestic gas. Later, however, a clear hypothesis appeared about a planned terrorist act.

On the night of 12/13 June an armed group in the number of about 60 bandits intruded to the village of Benoi-Vedeno in Nojai-Yurt district of Chechnya. The group was led by Usman Munzigov and Aslanbek Vadalov. Killed were the father and two sons Esaevs, they were relatives of the former interior minister of Chechnya. Besides, the bandits burnt down five houses, one of which belongs to the head of the village administration and two belong to the local police officers. A former head of the village administration, who worked in this capacity under Maskhadov, was taken hostage. 

16 June 30 Islamic fighters attacked a column of 4 vehicles of the border troops stationed in Chechnya. The attack occurred at 11:45 a.m. near the location of Chishki in Urus-Martan district. Three border guards were killed and five wounded.   

In the neighboring Achkhoi-Martan district, in the notoriously known Bamut village, the gunmen set on fire a Russian APC, which crew managed to escape.  

The analysts say that activization of the Islamic fighters in the North Caucasus was related to celebrations of Russia’s Day. The experts from the Russian special services note that it’s too early to announce peace in Chechnya, as about 200 people have gone to the mountains recently.
