A few days ago we started our newspaper’s museum in the office. We just bought a big china cabinet and asked some of our employees to contribute the newspaper artifacts. Among those there was one of the first computers gifted to us by Mikhail Gorbachev in 1993. The editor-in-chief brought our first pager and mobile phone. And the deputy editor deprived himself of the very first print issue that has got yellow now.     

Well, the exhibits of the newly appeared exposition telling about our past, it would be more logical to look into the future on one’s 15th anniversary.

It happens that Novaya Gazeta’s birthday falls on the All Fool’s Day – that’s the day not burdened very much with involvements. So we don’t like involvements either. Who said that a birthday should be celebrated only once a year! We are going to extend our jubilee for the whole year up to 31 March 2009. Of course, we are not going to organize a year-long corporate party! Our audience is our main achievement. We shall be celebrating our anniversary together. We want to see common people on our pages whose life stories are no less interesting than those of VIP’s. We want to be useful in everyday life. That is why we are commencing a few new projects with the purpose of enabling ordinary people to keep their head and not get lost in this life. We want to help those who differently from us may not live through to one’s first anniversary – that’s gravely ill children.       

A few days ago our office got some real treasures. To name just a couple of them, that’s the Vladislav Tretyak’s jersey and the football ball that TsSKA played with its last match in the Champions League. Those items are meant for someone and we will need your help to define it. We’ll tell about it in detail later.    

And tomorrow is going to be our official birthday. Considering a famous saying that Russia has two troubles – fools and bad roads – may fools and bad roads not prevent us from “coming of age” next year!
